چکیده

Accelerated coronary ostial stenosis is an infrequent late complication of coronary artery catheter instrumentation during aortic valve surgery, PTCA, or coronary angiography. We report the first case of bilateral coronary artery ostial stenoses developing after cardiac catheterization and right coronary artery PTCA. In patients with worsening angina following cardiac catheterization or PTCA, accelerated ostial stenoses should not be over-looked in the differential diagnosis.

Late symptomatic exercise-induced coronary vasospasm after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. A case report and review.

A patient who underwent a successful double-vessel percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) had suffered from exercise-induced ST-segment elevation associated with angina pectoris (AP). This ECG pattern was present both before and 12 months after PTCA while nifedipine (Adalat; Bayer-Miles) therapy was electively discontinued. Reintroduction of calcium blockade with this drug elimin...

Current concepts of integrated coronary physiology in the catheterization laboratory.

Over the last 15 years, the use of invasive coronary physiology in the catheterization laboratory has demonstrated favorable outcomes for decision making in patients with intermediate single-vessel stenoses, complex bifurcation and ostial branch stenoses, multivessel coronary artery disease, and left main stenoses. A recent large multicenter study (FAME [FFR versus Angiography for Multivessel E...

The OstialPro positioning system for a renal artery stenosis.

Aorto-ostial lesions pose complex technical challenges in percutaneous revascularization procedures. The successful use of the ostial positioning system OstialPro has been reported in coronary arteries. This nitinol device has self expanding legs that open just distal to the guide catheter. This allows the stent to be deployed in the ostium of the vessel with the guide catheter positioned in th...

A Cross-sectional study of stand-alone Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in a Nigerian Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

BACKGROUND There is a paucity of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities in Nigeria to confirm coronary artery disease and offer appropriate interventional therapy. There is now a private cardiac catheterization laboratory in Lagos but as there are no sustained Open Heart Surgery programmes, percutaneous coronary interventions are currently being performed without surgical backup. This study was ...

Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty Evolving Strategies and Implications

In this issue of Circulation, Detre et all review the incidence and outcome of periprocedural coronary artery occlusion following percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) in the second phase of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's (NHLBI) PTCA Registry. This registry examined the results in 1,801 patients managed during 1985-1986 with an initial PTCA not in the setting o...
